Grains Of Selim (Xylopia aethiopica)

Grains of Selim (known as Hwentia or Etso in Ghana) are the seeds of a shrubby tree, Xylopia aethiopica grown in Africa. 

The seeds have a unique aromatic and musky flavour and are used as a peppery spice and as a flavouring ingredient in many African soups, stews and spice drinks.

I use this amazing spice in all my blends in my Ghana Chai, and Sobolo to give an authentic West African flavour.

This very special spice is quite hard to find in Australia, I have imported some directly from Ghana for my spice blends and now you can experiment with authentic African cuisine at home!
